SESSION THREE

Topic: Asian Political and Economic Prospects

Objective:  We will look at some of the countries making up what is typically labeled as the Far East or Asia relative to their political and economic developments.  These are among the fastest growing economies during the past decade (although you have to be careful given how small an economy many of them enjoyed 10-20 years ago) and promise to be the source of many future changes in business and politics.  We are moving from the gritty detail of currencies and their valuation to a broader look at the economic issues facing a given geographic region.

Readings:

1. "Trade war stings Southeast Asia's export economies"

2.  "Excerpts from the Office of the United States Trade Representative"

3.  "What can we expect in China in 2019"

4.  "Are Chinese Banks Too Big"
